Common Controls
The Administration Module contains several controls that are common in function across the various component editing interfaces. Filtering, sorting, editing and adding object controls are located on the top of the module just underneath the Top Navigation Bar.
The Filter box allows a user to filter on the name of the object for fast searching. This text based search box will begin filtering results as data is typed into the field. Located under the Filter box, additional filter and sort options are available to help users refine the initial search.
Adding, Editing, and Deleting objects are controlled by Group Permissions and if the user has the ability to do so, then the objects for controlling these functions will be listed at the top of the module. By selecting the Add or Edit button, the user will initiate the appropriate drop box to ADD or Edit the object information. If selecting the Delete button, the user will be prompted to confirm they wish to delete the object selected below in the data list. Users may also choose to double-click on an item specifically to enter the edit screen.
In some component sub-modules, such as cameras, a user/administrator may choose to Bulk-Edit. This feature allows for multiple objects to be selected at once and upon selecting edit (with those multiple selections by holding down control key to mufti-select) an interface will appear allowing the user to select which field(s) via check-box they will be bulk-editing. Any bulk-edits will apply to all records selected. Using Bulk-Editallows the user to simultaneously update multiple items in a group. For example, a user can select a group of cameras, select the necessary modifications from the available options to edit all cameras within the selected group at once. The example below illustrate a bulk-edit whereby the fields for Time zone, Item icon, and Region were selected to be modified and applied to all cameras selected.
A copy function exists for records to allow for fast duplication of the selected item. When copying an object such as camera, the camera object copied will begin as inactive, waiting for a user to edit the new copy and make active.
Print exists to allow for all objects in the current sorted or filtered list to appear in an exportable report.
Sorting columns is controlled by clicking on the header. When sorting by a header a arrow will appear next to the column title indicating the sorted column and the ascending/descending direction. Clicking twice will reverse the sort order. Right-clicking on the edit column settings icon (represented by three vertical dots) will bring up a window to show or hide columns from view. Use the slide bar at the bottom of the container and slide right to reveal additional sort columns.
